STATUS: FORMATTING ZINE

guidelines

  • page artists will each be given a single page to work with. page sizing will depend on the results of the interest check.

  • writers will be given a maximum limit of 4000 words, and there will be no lower limit.

  • there will be a maximum of two works allowed per au (ie two different people could draw/write them in the legend of zelda universe, and so on)

  • once the zine is complete, contributors keep 100% of the copyright for their content, and may post and profit off their pieces.

  • we will NOT accept applicants who participate in nfts, blankshipping, or other content we may deem inexcusable (anti-lgbt, age gap, noncon etc).

  • these guidelines will be updated based on the results of the interest check.

faq

(to be updated)

  • does this zine allow artists in regardless of popularity and following? - yes! any and all artists will be allowed to submit an application when the time comes. we suggest that you provide at least three examples of your best works in your application. pokemon art is not required in your examples, but is recommended.

  • what about writers? what should they submit? - as with the artists, we will ask writers for three examples of what you believe to be your best writing work as well. ao3 works fine, or if you want to send us specific snippets of your work or unpublished stuff, google docs works fine as well!

  • do we have to submit previous zine works as our examples? what about a portfolio? - a portfolio and previous zine works are not necessary for your application examples! all we will need are links to the works, whether that's on social media or google drive. however, a portfolio is completely acceptable. the only thing we ask is that instagram is not used as one of the mods is unable to access the site.

  • will collabs between writers and artists be allowed? - it's certainly something that we are open to! it just needs to be discussed with the mods beforehand.

  • what do you mean by crossovers exactly? would the crossovers be in the sense that they are transported from their own world (pokemon) to that of another ip, or in the sense that they were born and raised in the world of another ip from the getgo? or would either of these suffice? - both of these are perfectly fine ways to interpret it! we aren't too picky, as long as they're in another ip world, anything goes! as a side note, while we don't want to see them in just a different part of the pokemon franchise (i.e. the manga or anime since they're already there), we will make an exception for pokemon mystery dungeon and pokemon conquest, since they're much farther removed from the main franchise... if that makes sense!

  • will shipping be worldwide? - we will try to ship to as many countries as possible, but this will be dependent on the global situation at the time preorders open. here is a list of countries currently not accepting packages from the us.

  • how will contributors be compensated for their efforts? - contributors will receive a free copy of the whole zine bundle (aka the zine itself and whatever merch may come with a complete bundle). NOTE: if you come from one of the countries in the link above, please understand that you may not be able to receive compensation for physical goods.

  • approximately how many assignments will there be? - this is completely dependent on the results of the interest check. please check back for more info about this!

  • is this a system safe space? - yes! we are 100% system friendly!

  • what are some things to keep in mind when selecting a piece of media? if the zine is all ages vs 18+ (sfw still of course) that changes what kind of material to choose from. while the content of the zine is sfw, what about the media that is being crossed over with? - this is actually a difficult question. one part of that comes from ratings being different in different areas of the world. there's also the aspect that different media can have the same rating for different purposes (i.e. a game being rated m for excessive violence vs having a lot of sexual content, and so on). so what we will say is this - we will accept pieces of media that typically have a mature rating (i.e. soulsborne, yakuza, etc) as long as they can be depicted by the artist/writer tastefully and in a way that isn't too explicit.

  • will you be banning certain media that supports harmful ideas (such as attack on titan and harry potter)? - absolutely. we will not be allowing such media within the zine.

  • will violence/blood be allowed in the zine? - yes, but we would like to keep the zine as close to pg13 as possible. as long as it's not too graphic it should be fine, but it will be discussed on a case by case basis.

  • will horror be allowed within the zine? - as with gore/violence, it should be fine if kept close to pg13 and isn't too graphic. again - case by case basis.
